Relying on the end of the world, as predicted yet again by Harold Camping, I enjoyed some Culver’s Flavor of the Day, Pumpkin Pecan. Continue reading “Pumpkin Pecan custard: Rapturously good.”

Nothing to see here. Move along now.
For whatever reason, I seem to have encountered a little writer’s block, so I won’t inflict on you my inchoate thoughts on C. Peter Wagner and the New Apostolic Reformation. Heck, I can’t even find primary sources now, though I found a few a few months ago. I’ll just say (1) it strikes me as unusually cultish and doctrinally weird, (2) it bears watching for its political aspirations, and (3) primary sources are better, if you can find them, because few in the press GetReligion (whence the need for a blog of that name).
My recollection of the primary sources is that C. Peter Wagner, formerly quite mainstream, has gone rogue and has aspirations which are alarming. The question is whether he has followers, and on that I’m quite uncertain.
Have a nice Sunday.
(To save time on preparing this blog, which some days consumes way too much time, I’ve asked some guy named @RogerWmBennett to Tweet a lot of links about which I have little or nothing to add. Check the “Latest Tweets” in the upper right pane or follow him on Twitter.)

Pat Robertson, who regularly gets mis-identified as a “Rev.” or “Evangelist” (it’s so hard to tell the difference between Evangelical “Rev. Celebrities,” “Evangelist Celebrities,” and “Batshit Crazy Celebrities”), gives a big ole Bronx Cheer to Christian tradition on marriage by saying that it’s okay to dump a spouse with Alzheimers. Evangelicals and Mormons (lumped) Together
Today is the Feast of Transfiguration in Orthodox Christianity. In Roman Catholicism and much other historically-rooted Christianity, too.
